Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a Histotechnologist II who will support Emory Healthcare’s mission of clinical care, education, and research by demonstrating the core values of excellence, caring, and integrity. This individual:

 

Performs routine or complex histologic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment while upholding the values of the organization. May accession tissue specimens; prepares routine specimens for fixation in automatic processors.Embeds and sections specimens using a microtome. Affixes tissue to slides, stains, cover slips, and labels slides. Maintains a reference system of control blocks and slides for use in special studies.Prepares fixative and staining solutions according to established laboratory procedures. May perform frozen section microtomy. Assists with monitoring and maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies and chemicals.Performs and participates in the review and reporting of quality control activities in the laboratory.Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School diploma. Certification as HT(ASCP) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, with a minimum of two (2) years' experience, or certification as HTL(ASCP) or HTL-eligible by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists with no experience. Certification must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
