Summary
The Histotechnician processes and prepares all surgical cases so that Pathologists can provide accurate diagnoses and interpretations of these cases. These processes include specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, routine staining, special staining, frozen section processes, decalcification procedures, quality control, instrument maintenance and knowledge, maintain chemical and safety procedures, and ability to work within established computer software systems.
The Ideal Candidate:
Demonstrate professional behavior, technical knowledge including scientific theory behind technical processes, accuracy, attention to detail and quality, ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and laboratory procedures, ability to work independently and as a team, and demonstrate analytical skills.
Credentials and Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required, Associate’s degree preferred
Florida (ASCP) HT License Required
One (1) year experience required specifically within Histology, will accept practicum training through NAACLS accredited program as experience. Three (3) years experience preferred
Demonstrates a high degree of adaptability and capability of interacting professionally with Faculty and Leadership.
