ROLE SUMMARY
The US health system landscape is evolving rapidly. Consolidation and vertical integration among Leading Health Systems (LHSs) highlight the importance of integrated care delivery and population health in a progressively challenging market. As a result, Leading Health Systems are increasingly seeking strategic partnerships that require enterprise capabilities and executive engagement. From a Pfizer perspective, this engagement serves to further enable Pfizer Inc, current BU Key Account Management functions and other cross-functional teams by working collaboratively with SMEs from such functions to determine and deliver against key priorities.
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Primary Care Team Leader will be accountable for leading HIT Health System efforts and will serve as the leader for a team of HIT Account Directors. The responsibilities include covering Primary Care Brands that are utilized across a variety of specialties and sites of care within Integrated Delivery Networks. The role must collaborate across a multi-stakeholder group, internally and externally, including the evolving customer, brand and cross-BU demands in the organized customer market to address complex challenges. With customers expecting engagement at the marketing, clinical, technology and healthcare intersection, it will be critical for the lead to ensure data and insights result in high impact customer facing content and communication that drives mutual results and supports organizational goals. To accomplish this, the lead will align across a highly matrixed team to develop and evolve HIT strategies, capabilities, tactics, approach and resources. The leader must have strong executive presence and impact, due to internal and external executive management role responsibilities. The role requires exceptional functional experience working across multiple therapeutic areas, strong business acumen, deep knowledge of the healthcare market and evolving trends (EHR, technology, quality and HIT), strong collaboration skills, implementation experience, customer facing experience, and has exemplified a culture of Compliance.
This role is preferred to be based at a Pfizer site, but a virtual location is acceptable if near a major airport. Travel within the field is required, and HQ and the role will report to the Pfizer Vice President, Primary Care Key Account Management Lead.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
This HIT Primary Care Team Lead will be charged to lead Pfizer Primary Care LHS HIT efforts and lead a team of 6 HIT Account Directors and 1 HIT National Account Director aligned to Primary Care Key Account Management. With each, complex matrix leadership and the ability to deliver innovative HIT customer strategies and solutions that support standardized clinical integration to accomplish mutually aligned (Pfizer and Customer) goals intended to benefit patient care will be critical.
Enterprise Team Leadership:
The position will develop and execute an LHS HIT roadmap for the Pfizer Primary Care to identify, confirm and take advantage of prioritized opportunities, enabling innovative approach mutually aligning LHS and Pfizer HIT capabilities and needs. The TL works plays a key leadership role of Pfizer’s HIT COE. Areas of priority will generate value for patients through delivering high quality HIT education, insights and engagement for LHS’s and shareholders. The position will be tasked to work as a HIT subject matter expert to align across Business Units, cross-functionally and with the core teams to research, develop, manage, and evaluate multiple in-market engagements and projects designed to test and identify:
· New models for and evolution of care delivery, enabling patient identification, and activation
· New ways to demonstrate population health outcomes improvement, enabling Pfizer to better understand and impact patient care approach across the complete product lifecycle.
· New ways to engage with LHS stakeholders based on Pfizer and/or customer need and Pfizer and/or customer expertise.
· Examples may include, but will not be limited to new processes of care delivery leveraging EHR and technology to improve patient care and outcomes
· Cross-functional collaboration will be critical as the lead may engage at times on initiatives, such as clinical trial innovation, evolution of care pathway design, predictive analytics, and social determinants that will primarily executed by Pfizer medical or research colleagues.
Team Leadership:
· Provide HIT strategic direction, oversight and development for the personnel in the HIT functions, which includes full time employees (FTEs) aligned to IM KAM regions and business needs
· Lead both Enterprise and IM BU specific efforts to deliver innovative customer solutions that support standardized clinical integration and drive outcomes from a brand, leadership and market growth perspective that support Pfizer’s Blueprint imperatives
· Ensure seamless leadership, alignment and partnership with needed cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., medical, digital and legal) during development and execution of efforts
· Ensure HIT strategies, tactics and approach align with defined team goals and legal/compliance standards
· Provide leadership and drive alignment for HIT related strategies and programs through Pfizer review committees
· Maximize performance, customer engagement, and execution by coaching and developing self and direct reports to maximize customer impact
· Lead the team to define needs (i.e. training, resources), uncover insights and develop strategies and tactics in a consultative way aligned with defined objectives
· Engage customers and effectively model desired skills and behaviors to ensure appropriate situational coaching
· Create an innovative and engaging work environment, providing clear direction, prioritization, guidance and feedback to the team
· Set challenging performance objectives, provide performance coaching and demonstrate interest and support of employee’s career aspirations
Subject Matter Expertise and Cross Functional Partnership:
· Function as an internal and external HIT functional subject matter authority with experience across multiple therapeutic areas, supporting both National and Regional Account Management teams
· In partnership with Marketing, Medical, Enterprise. Legal and KAM leadership, provide subject matter expertise and support to develop and implement product life cycle expansion HIT strategies aligned to customer needs, with key focus on prioritized assets in development to ensure launch readiness
· Support HIT strategic development activities through environmental analysis including sharing insights of customer drivers and barriers for Pfizer and competitors
· Collaborate with Pfizer stakeholders and external industry thought leaders to monitor, support and shape key HIT efforts that align to the organized customer channel
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS, PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 5+ years of people and team leadership
· 15+ years of Advanced Market and/or HIT Functional experience preferred
· Customer / client facing experience
· Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority
· Strong written and verbal communication influencing skills
· Demonstrated ability to partner cross functionally to advance innovative solutions
· Experience working with or within a leading health system to define, evolve and deliver functional and clinical strategy and population health approach
· Understanding of trends in healthcare and aware of knowledge of US healthcare dynamics, with a deep understanding of HIT insights relative to these dynamics
· Ability to influence key stakeholders at senior levels internally and externally (C-Suite LHS Executive, Presidents, BU & Medical Leaders, Department leaders, and Functional counterparts).
· Advanced degree with experience across multiple relevant therapeutic areas
· Demonstration of strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and development of pragmatic recommendations
· Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for Pfizer's business through the lens of HIT with preferred experience deploying innovative tools

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,800.00 to $366,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
