Job Title: HMA Quality Control Manager

SUMMARY
The main purpose of the position is to coordinate all activities required to direct and control asphalt production quality. This position will review product quality requirements for individual clients and projects, ensure those requirements are understood and implemented, to manage the quality of asphalt to meet the requirements of the contract/project specifications, coordinates and controls the day-to-day operations of inspection personnel, and ensure a safe, secure, and efficient working environment. Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum three years’ experience with HMA paving required. High level of understanding HMA mix designs required. High level of HMA mix problem solving required. Prior supervisory experience required. Prior experience with asphalt lab equipment. Familiarity with quality control software or data management software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages relevant to the position. Strong organizational skills with focus on prioritization of workload. Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, and dependable. Conflict resolution skills, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with good driving record.Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistics, PWLs and geometry to determine trends. Ability to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to problem solve.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Iowa DOT Aggregate Technician Certificate, HMA Level 1 and/or HMA Level 2. State certification in Asphalt mix designs or ability to obtain one.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position works in an office and/or laboratory setting as well as in the field at plant operations and customer job sites.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
