Nature of Work
Assists and supports residents participating in the City of Las Cruces Home Care Program helping with activities of daily living primarily in home to support independent living status.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed at client homes, performing field services. Protective clothing is available and required.
Physical Factors
Moderately heavy physical requirements, including ability to occasionally move a physically-disabled person weighing up to 200 pounds, carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and frequently push/pull a vacuum cleaner.
Work Situation Factors
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, frequent work at night, beyond normal business hours and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
+ Performs supportive in-home services for individuals participating in the CLC Home Care Program helping clients remain independent, avoid unnecessary institutionalization, and reduce the possibility of family abuse, exploitation, and self-neglect.
+ Provides and performs general housecleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, dish washing, vacuuming, sanitizing bathroom, and laundry; transports clients to doctor appointments, coordinates shopping, helps to pay bills, and provides other attended and unattended activities.
+ Participates in meal planning, preparation, and serving; aids in personal care such as bathing, shaving, grooming, and dressing.
+ Transports clients to doctor appointments, shopping, senior center, paying bills, and other attended and unattended activities; pre-inspects vehicle by checking, tires, fluid levels; operation of brakes, wipers, and lights; reports items in need of maintenance.
+ Interprets billing statements and completes various applications for assistance on behalf of the client; schedules client appointments such as doctor and social security office; maintains accurate handwritten records of services performed and of apparent condition of clients served.
+ Picks up and delivers commodity foods; ensures that program vehicle is maintained according to guidelines; assists with Senior Program special events.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with experience in housekeeping and/or patient care; experience in dealing with seniors or disabled persons is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Licenses/Certification(s)
Valid driver’s license is required. Must complete CPR and First Aid training upon employment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are desirable. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policies.
