As the Vice President, Assistant General Counsel in Home Lending/Commercial Term Lending Litigation you will work independently and with outside counsel to represent the Firm in litigation matters, as well as provide advice on a broad range of other matters and issues relating to Chase’s residential and commercial mortgage lending business. You will have independent contact with, and support, senior management in the Firm.  Demonstrating litigation skills, as well as sound legal judgment, you will leverage your deep understanding of litigation matters to make informed decisions that deliver positive results to our customers and our business partners.  If you are focused on driving positive results, with a passion for handling a variety of litigation matters, you may be the perfect fit for our team.

Job responsibilities

 

Managing actual and potential litigation matters Advising on litigation issues that impact various business functions, including loan origination, servicing and foreclosure Managing dispute resolution Interpreting existing laws, rules, and regulations and advising on changes thereto Advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules, and regulations Providing legal advice to the business and functions Selecting, engaging, and managing outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is engaged

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

 

At least five years of post-admission legal practicing experience Juris doctorate degree. All candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment Knowledge of, and experience with, complex litigation matters Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to think strategically, write well and communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal professionals, including senior executives of the Firm Ability to build and maintain good client and colleague relationships

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

 

Extensive litigation experience, with prior experience in financial services or Home Lending or Commercial Term Lending litigation being a plus Ability to manage a large volume of cases and balance competing priorities

 

 

 

All candidates for roles in the Legal department must be licensed to practice law in the country of employment and successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
