Home Oxygen Delivery Driver

Under the direction of the Director, and with minimal supervision, the Equipment Tech is responsible for managing the oxygen, respiratory, and hospice equipment being provided to patients in the home.  The Equipment Tech will deliver and educate the patients and caregivers on the proper use and safety precautions of the equipment.  The Equipment Tech will ensure all documentation is filled out completely.  If a patient reports that they are having equipment problems the Equipment Tech will troubleshoot the equipment and repair or replace the equipment if necessary. The Equipment Tech will clean, disinfect, and function test returned equipment to verify that it works properly for other patients.  The Equipment Tech will coordinate the delivery and pick up of equipment with patients, caregivers, and facility staff within a 60-mile radius.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with medical gases in a home care delivery setting preferred. Must be 21 years of age or older. Valid driver’s license. Clean driving record.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Complete certification annually in CGMP training for the operation of the oxygen transfill system, ServoMex oxygen analyzer, and proper oxygen delivery processes

Load, deliver, setup, instruct on proper use, and educate on safety precautions of equipment. Provide instructions for use, troubleshooting, billing, and Home Oxygen & Sleep Supplies business information to the patient. Collects accurate patient information which includes demographic, medical, and billing. Completes deliveries, pick-ups, troubleshooting calls, and equipment maintenances in a timely manner. Keeps patient PHI confidential and adheres to HIPPA privacy regulations. Develops basic reimbursement knowledge and completes all documentation needed to be reimbursed for the equipment provided. Assess the patient home for safety hazards. Troubleshoots problems with equipment over the phone or in the patient’s home. Performs scheduled equipment maintenances in the patient’s home. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of products and equipment provided by Home Oxygen & Sleep Supplies. Understands all government regulations pertaining to the equipment provided by Home Oxygen & Sleep Supplies. Complete all necessary delivery forms including, but not limited to, invoices, patient instruction, consent for service, home assessment, delivery route sheets, hazmat manifest, and patient delivery log. Ensures that the company vehicles are maintained in a clean and safe condition. Completes a vehicle inspection checklist on a daily basis. Safely drives the company vehicles and abides by all traffic laws. Securely loads equipment to avoid damage. Report all types of equipment problems or hazards to the Manager. Refer patient complaints and compliments to the Manager. Adheres to all infection control procedures and wears appropriate PPE. Cleans and disinfects all used and returned equipment.  Performs and documents all function testing on cleaned equipment to ensure proper operation for future patient use. Required to participate in the Equipment Tech on-call rotation. Required to participate in random drug and alcohol testing. Complete certification annually in CGMP training for the operation of the oxygen transfill system, ServoMex oxygen analyzer, and proper oxygen delivery processes. Complete annual equipment competencies and training. Complete St. Peter’s Health annual training. Comply with all St. Peter’s Health and Home Oxygen & Sleep Supplies policies and procedures. Wear identification while on duty. Adhere to the St. Peter’s Health dress code. Report to work on time for your scheduled shift. Attend department staff meetings as required. Participate in the Home Oxygen & Sleep Supplies Quality Improvement Program. Performs all other duties as assigned.
