Yes County Albany Street Address 1220 Washington Ave. City Albany State NY Zip Code 12226 Duties Description The incumbent will report to the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Data Analysis Bureau. Under the direction of the Homeland Security Program Analyst 2, the Homeland Security Program Analyst 1 will primarily be responsible for the appropriate tools and technologies needed to support the section mission and to create decision support products for emergency management decision makers. The incumbent will collect and gather data from various internal and external sources and subsequently evaluate the data for completeness and relevance to the agency’s needs. Duties include but are not limited to:• Transform data into a format for analysis and visualization. • Create dashboards and reports displaying complex data. • Translate technical data into lay terms. • Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships. • Utilize statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms as needed to generate insights and support decision-making. • Visualize data in meaningful and impactful ways to clearly communicate insights and findings to stakeholders. • Utilize data visualization tools and techniques to create charts, graphs, and other visualizations as needed. • Generate reports to provide insights and support decision-making. • Utilize report design techniques and data storytelling to communicate data insights in a compelling and impactful way. • Work closely with key stakeholders to support the development of the data analysis function and ensure data insights are effectively communicated and integrated into decision-making. • Continuously evaluate and improve data analysis processes and methodologies. • Provide analytical support high profile and/or cross-cutting programs, projects, and initiatives. • Conduct and manage comprehensive research on select homeland security, public security, and emergency management trends at the state, local, federal and international levels interacting extensively with agency representatives, subject matter experts, advisory services, and legal resources as relevant. • Assist with strategic planning efforts for the agency and larger homeland security enterprises in New York State. • Facilitate and/or lead meetings, workgroups, and training. • Represent the agency at conferences, meetings, workgroups, and other settings as appropriate. • Support new and growing programs coordinated and led by field staff to include the County Emergency Preparedness Assessment (CEPTA) and Local Emergency Management Accreditation programs. • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the agency’s mission or other program areas. • Travel may be required, up to 25%. Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in intelligence analysis, homeland security, counter terrorism, emergency preparedness analysis and assessment, or investigations.
