Specify requiredminimum equivalency for education, The Community Educator is responsible for planning, developing,implementing and evaluating educational consumer and commercial horticulture and natural resource programs in Delaware County.
Major emphasis includes developing and implementing the Master Gardener training program, overseeing and coordinating the efforts of these community volunteers, and developing educational materials on community horticulture for county trainings.
The position will serve as a subject matter expert in commercial horticulture and natural resources in Delaware County. The educator works with and coordinates programming with other local and regional Extension staff, local groups and maintains direct linkages with Cornell faculty and program units for program delivery guidance and research projects.
This Community Educator is also expected to secure grants and outside funding and manage budgets in support of the program’s educational priorities under the direction of the Ag. Team Leader and Executive Director.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Natural Resources or plant science or related discipline.
• Two years volunteer management experience.
• Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Teams, and Excel.
• Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, organize workload, handle administrative details, work under pressure and establish priorities.

This is a full-time (40 hrs./week) benefits eligible, exempt position. Annual compensation $60,405 with generous paid time off provided.
Office hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30pm. Location: CCE Delaware Hamden, NY.

Apply in-depth subject matter knowledge to create lessons plans to deliver educational program.Conduct educational programs through meetings, seminars, committees and individual counseling on all aspects of environmental horticulture.Provide educational program efforts via mass media.Serve as subject matter expert in discipline to program committees, Cornell Cooperative Extension staff, and clientele, including agencies and other groups.As a team member, serve as a resource expert to other Cornell staff in cooperative projects and programs. Plan and conduct applied demonstrations based on priorities determined by advisory groups and program participants as appropriate, following prescribed Cornell policies.
