Position Summary:

The Hospice Associate Medical Director will serve as the chief physician medical advisor to the agency on matters related to the agency’s medical affairs.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of the Hospice Associate Medical Director include, but are not limited to:

Participate, as requested, in the review and/or formation of agency’s policies and procedures adopted to assess and improve the quality and efficiency of agency’s services. Serve as an active member of and act as Medical Resource to the Hospice’s Interdisciplinary Group and meet with the members of the Interdisciplinary Group to develop, periodically review, and update a written plan of care for each Hospice patient. Perform face to face encounters and attest to those encounters. Provide supervision, management, and oversight to the services provided by the agency to ensure that professional services rendered meet or exceed accepted standards of care. Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with local physicians. Complete and maintain documentation on all services provided in accordance with the Hospice agency’s policies and procedures. Prudent record-keeping procedures and applicable Medicare and Medicaid regulations and program guidelines. Serve as the attending physician for those patients admitted to hospice care who have no attending physician. Provide home visitation services to hospice patients when needed. Review referred cases for determination of appropriate medical action and communicates recommendations to appropriate Agency personnel.

 Qualifications:

A Doctoral Degree in medicine (M.D.) or (D.O.) and current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
