The Hospice Compliance Officer’s Primary function is to ensure hospice remains in compliance with all Federal and State Regulations. Directs all compliance aspects of the hospice.
Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of EMR privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations and adheres to HIPAA requirements, local, state and federal guidelines and agency policies. Responsible for the completion and submission and follow-up of required forms for start-up and acquired hospice locations. Oversees and participates in Mock Surveys. Demonstrates knowledge of Home Care Home Base software system. Communicates appropriately and effectively with staff, providers, and referral sources. Communicates effectively with Hospice Leadership Works in conjunction with Supervisor and Hospice Leadership to meet assigned deadlines. Demonstrates appropriate and effective judgment to maintain hospice compliance. Effectively updates, maintains, and implements Hospice policies, protocols, and processes. Responsible for the completion and submission of required forms for Medicaid contracting, as well as follow up. Works with Hospice Leadership to hold staff accountable to Hospice policies and protocols in relation to state and federal regulations. Oversight and management of Quality Compliance Coordinator. Assists and completes required and requested audits and maintains copy as needed. Assists with initiation of APS reporting. Provides oversight of Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program. Initiates agency protocol when violations occur that require self-reporting. Assists with initiation of action plans for the hospice organization when problems are identified. Ensures all elements of ACHC/State Plan of Correction is implemented and maintained for all offices. Works closely with hospice leadership to ensure hospice compliance. Responsible for completing all patient record requests including additional documentation request from CMS, intermediaries, and/or 3rd party auditing parties. Ensures all policy and forms updates are shared with hospice locations. Participates and presents findings for all bi-annual governing body meetings. Ensures QAPI Committee reviews and signs quarterly reports and files in QAPI manual. Review of agency reports to ensure compliance standards of agency. Oversees data collection for annual agency evaluation. Ensures completion of agency annual checklist. Accepts responsibility and responds well to instructions. Observance of organizational policies and processes. Responsible for working collaboratively with Hospice clinical and operations teams for appealing all audited claim denials including ALJ hearings when necessary. Ability to organize and manage time effectively. Some travel is required. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications & Experience:
Management experience is required. Home Care Home Base experience is required. Hospice compliance experience is required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current RN licensure in state. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured.
