Position Summary

The Hospice Director is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. This Hospice Director - PAH oversees the development and execution of strategic plans, promotes interdisciplinary teamwork, and acts as a key representative in community and professional settings. Additionally, the Hospice Director - PAH ensures effective integration of services across various care settings and supports continuous improvement initiatives.


Position Specific Responsibilities

Develops and coordinate strategic growth plans, including business and long-range planning.Establishes and execute goals aligned with organizational mission and priorities.Provides leadership in developing new programs reflecting the mission and goals of the organization.Oversees clinical and administrative services, ensuring seamless operations across multiple locations.Monitors budgets to ensure financial sustainability and operational efficiency.Ensures optimal care delivery at the lowest necessary cost.Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations.Develops policies and procedures to support regulatory adherence and quality care.Oversees quality improvement initiatives and evaluate program outcomes.Recruits, mentors, and develops a high-performing interdisciplinary team.Addresses staffing needs and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.Promotes a culture of collaboration and mission-driven service.Serves as the organization’s liaison with community groups, healthcare providers, and media.Advocates for hospice and palliative care through public awareness and networking initiatives.Represents the organization in fundraising and educational programs.Identifies and implement new processes and technologies to enhance care delivery.Leads system-wide initiatives to improve integration and efficiency of services.Oversees the activities of managers, clinical teams, and administrative staff.Ensures smooth coordination between hospice and palliative care programs within the continuum of care.Facilitates performance evaluation and improvement plans for staff.Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree - Nursing, Social Work, other field with hospice leadership experience required.Master's degree - Business, Social Work (MSW), Healthcare, or related health field with leadership experiencee preferred.Two (2) years in Healthcare leadership required.Five (5) years in Healthcare leadership preferred.


Skills

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In a healthcare setting, exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
