The cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business necessities and client requirements.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook to order foods that may require short preparation time.Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte station and may operate a grill station.Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.Read food orders or receive verbal instructions on food required by patrons and prepare and cook food according to instructions.Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times.Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.Prepare foods under direct supervision or instruction by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment, following all company, client, and regulatory rules and procedures.Attend all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.Comply with all company HACCP policies and procedures.Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies, and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.Produce some batch goods using basic cooking techniques.Essential SkillsExperience in food preparation and cookingAbility to follow recipes and product directionsKnowledge of operating kitchen equipmentStrong customer service skillsUnderstanding of food safety and sanitation standardsAbility to comply with HACCP policies and proceduresCapability to work under supervision and follow instructionsPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
