Hospital Manager II

At Broadway Veterinary Hospital, we are dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care to pets and compassionate service to their owners. We pride ourselves on maintaining a warm, welcoming environment for both our patients and our team. Located in the heart of Oakland, CA, we are a five doctor practice with a support staff of 20 and are looking for an experienced and driven Hospital Manager to join our team and help guide our hospital to continued success.

Job Summary:

The Hospital Manager will oversee the daily operations of Broadway Veterinary Hospital, ensuring that our facility operates efficiently and in alignment with our mission to provide the highest standard of veterinary care. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a passion for animal healthcare, and the ability to manage staff, resources, and administrative duties. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a medical facility, with responsibilities in customer service, recruiting, human resources, marketing, and profit and loss responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Under policy direction from the Field Manager and with support of and input from Medical Director, the Hospital Manager performs a wide range of difficult to complex administrative activities.  Assuring the hospital is providing quality patient care and excellent client service.  Additional duties include; management of finances and accounting, marketing and promotion of services, staffing, human resources, and discretionary activities that serve to support effective business operations.

Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring smooth workflows and efficient service delivery.Staff Management: Lead, train, and motivate a team of veterinary professionals and support staff, ensuring they maintain high standards of care and customer service.Financial Management: Oversee the budgeting, financial tracking, and resource allocation for the hospital to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining quality care.Client Relations: Foster a positive relationship with pet owners, ensuring excellent communication, service, and follow-up on care.Inventory & Supply Management: Manage inventory levels and coordinate the purchasing of medical supplies and equipment.Compliance & Regulations: Ensure that the hospital adheres to all veterinary regulatory standards, health and safety laws, and hospital policies.Facility Management: Oversee the physical condition of the hospital, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the veterinarians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for all patients.Performance & Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track hospital goals, and report regularly on performance metrics.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in a veterinary practice or healthcare setting.Strong knowledge of veterinary practices, animal care, and medical terminology.Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Experience in budgeting, financial management, and cost control.Proficiency in practice management software, MS Office and Excel.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and positive attitude.Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.Passion for animal welfare and a deep understanding of the importance of quality veterinary care.Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.

The annual salary range for this position is $68,000- $110,000.
