Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnered with a respected facility in Jamaica Plain, MA, currently seeking an RN supervisor for their hospital on a full-time basis.
Details of the position include:
+ Location : Jamaica Plain, MA
+ Duration : 13 weeks to start, with likelihood of extension
+ Facility Type : Hospital
+ Openings : Mon-Fri and every other weekend, 11p-7a
+ Start Date : 2/3/25
+ Salary : Local - $80/hr & Travel - $4,187 gross/week
+ Requirements : Must have 2+ years of Supervisor or Charge experience
Position Description:
+ Provides direct and indirect supervision for the management and care of patients from the community, DPH, DOC, DMH, and DDS on all units during evening and/or night shifts.
+ Communicates patient care conditions and status to other supervisory personnel through inter-shift reports, maintaining legal compliance with professional and facility standards.
+ Collaborates with the Nurse Manager in employee performance reviews.
+ Functions as a resource person for coordinating hospital services for community and departmental agencies.
+ Attends administrative nursing meetings and communicates information to staff.
+ Consults with the Nurse Manager and/or Staffing Coordinator regarding appropriate staffing levels and authorizes overtime as necessary.
+ Ensures staff attendance at educational programs scheduled during evening and night shifts whenever possible.
+ Assumes responsibility for containing overtime costs within the nursing department budget.
+ Pursues continuing education and professional development through conferences, seminars, and workshops.
+ Reports emergencies and special occurrences to appropriate administrative personnel on call.
+ Supervises related duties, including equipment repair, safety checks, and stocking of medical supplies.
+ Oversees and assists with IV/Phlebotomy activities during off shifts.
+ Demonstrates competence in assessing and providing culturally and spiritually sensitive care.
+ Demonstrates competence in Meditech and functions as a super user in the absence of the Informatics Specialist.
+ Ensures continuity of care among all caregivers by following hospital and Department of Nursing Hand Off Communication policies.
+ Ensures staffing is appropriate to the census and acuity on all units.
+ Assists on nursing units to maintain appropriate levels of care.
+ Serves as a patient advocate by investigating complaints and making necessary adjustments.
+ Functions as the hospital administrator on off shifts, carrying out relevant duties until appropriate senior management is contacted.
Qualifications:
+ Supervisor or Charge Nurse experience required
+ Familiarity with formatting and revising individual treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team
+ Knowledge of harm reduction and medication-assisted therapies
+ Knowledge of emergency medical procedures such as CPR and tourniquets
+ Knowledge of the care and treatment of substance use disorders
+ Knowledge of detoxification protocols
+ Experience with chemically addicted, dual-diagnosed (substance abuse/mental health), or psychiatrically ill clients with co-morbidity
