As a Host, you will be responsible for providing patients with “Excellence Above All” meal satisfaction through timely information and communication about the meal process, ensuring timely, accurate delivery and collection of meal trays, and following up through frequent rounding to confirm satisfaction with the meal process. Assures each patient receives the correct diet as prescribed by the physician and assists in obtaining food selections to enhance satisfaction.  Acts as a liaison between the patient, Food and Nutrition Services and Nursing Services, to communicate all patient food needs.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsible for providing diet appropriate menu packets and communication about the meal ordering process, assisting with placing patient meal orders, delivering, and collecting meal trays, conducting routine patient rounds, and providing nourishment and floor stocks to assigned units. Maintains clear and accurate communications at all times with Dietitians, nursing unit staff and all patient services staff.  Ensures that all patients and family members have a clear understanding of the meal service process throughout the patients’ hospitalization. Professionally interact with the customers to meet or exceed established customer service standards.  Customers are patients, visitors, and staff, including those on units and coworkers in the department, with whom Hosts are interacting.  Using the computer software and telephone systems in department/hospital, obtain and assist with patient meal orders, enter meal preferences and nourishment, print reports and nourishment/tube feeding labels.  Prepare and deliver nourishment, floor stocks, meal trays and record temperatures of unit refrigerators.   Assist in all other areas of the department as needed, including but not limited to meal assembly, food preparation and cleaning assignments.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Some High School Training Food Service Experience.   Must be able to read and write clearly and correctly.  


Preferred: 

High School degree or General Education Degree (GED) or enrollment in High School or GED program.   Post High School education/training.   Ability to work with computerized nutrition data software.   One year of health care and customer service experience.
