**Job Description** We are seeking a friendly and versatile Host/Hostess to join our team at Glacier Bay Lodge in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. This dynamic role combines traditional hosting duties with bussing and food running responsibilities, ensuring smooth service and a welcoming experience for all guests. The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment. **About Glacier Bay Lodge & Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve:** ? Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don?t want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Celebrate the Centennial/100-year anniversary of this beautiful park while enjoying everything this remote park has to offer! With brand new housing and upgraded internet connectivity now available, become a part of our small family of around 50 employees for the summer of a lifetime! _This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of May 1 - September 5, 2025._ _We offer competitive wages, paid sick leave, on-site (NEW!!) housing and meal plan ($15/day all inclusive!) & local discounts!_ Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training. **Job Responsibilities** **1. Hosting Duties** + Greet guests warmly as they enter the restaurant, creating a positive first impression. + Manage the seating chart and coordinate table assignments to ensure efficient service flow. + Handle reservations and waitlists, providing accurate wait time estimates. + Communicate guest needs and preferences to servers and other team members. **2. Bussing Duties** + Clear and reset tables promptly and efficiently to maintain a clean and organized dining room. + Assist with keeping the dining area and service stations clean and stocked with necessary supplies. + Handle spills and other messes immediately to maintain a safe and tidy environment. **3. Food Running Duties** + Deliver food orders to guests quickly and accurately, ensuring proper presentation. + Communicate with the kitchen staff to confirm order details and address any discrepancies. + Assist servers by refilling drinks, bringing condiments, or fulfilling other guest requests as needed. **4. Team Support** + Collaborate with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure smooth operations. + Be proactive in addressing guest needs and providing support wherever necessary. + Maintain a positive and professional attitude, contributing to a team-oriented work environment. In order to meet our commitments, job duties may change or new ones may be assigned without formal notice. **Qualifications** + Previous host/hostess or food service experience preferred + Demonstrates excellent guest service skills + Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal + Demonstrates strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail + The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule to work evenings, weekends, and holidays + Enjoys working in a lively environment + Must be able to obtain food safety certification + This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
