Position Summary (Job Description):
Operates tractor-trailer equipment in accordance to D.O.T. regulations on or off company property for docking and loading/unloading of product.
Communicate with warehouse and transportation staff on a regular basis to coordinate proper trailer drop & hook location. Operate commercial motor carrier equipment and inspect and monitor tractor-trailer for defects, check reefer fuel and reefer temperatures. Pre-cool reefer units to Company specifications.
Complete unloading of return trailers and wash and sweep out trailers if necessary. Chock wheels after trailer is in proper door. Follow AIR LINE LOCK procedure on each trailer.
Verify unit departure times and align equipment accordingly; making sure tractor is hooked appropriate to trailer for assigned route. Update dispatch sheet with tractor-trailer number at the dispatch desk and maintain appropriate communication with transportation management team.
Parks tractor- trailer in assigned parking spots and maintain yard free of trash. Observe company safety rules and regulations. Maintain Company quality and performance standards. Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary. This may include frequent deliveries to customer stores, which require loading/unloading product ranging from 5-50 lbs with or without assistance from store personnel.

QualificationsQualifications Required of this Position:
Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License and possess a current DOT Medical certification card. One to three years driving tractor-trailer experience. Must be able to effectively communicate to maintain positive customer relations climate with other drivers/warehouse personnel/customers/supervisors. Capable of standing, walking and repeatedly climbing into and out of road tractor or switch tractor. Must be able to work all necessary work schedules, including holidays/weekends. Requires safely operating equipment in extremes of weather and climatic conditions and insure working in a cold environment (cooler/freezer). Must be able to frequently lift/handle cases ranging from 5-50 pounds. HS Diploma or equivalent.
