An Avalon Manager oversees the daily operations of one of our 16 bedroom or smaller communities.  

Responsibilities

Avalon Managers must be on duty inside the Avalon community at least 40 hours per week.  This is not a position that can be worked remotely.

 

Job duties include (but are not limited to):

 

Resident Care

complete Resident Assessments and Plans of Caremedication reconciliationphysician ordersassess each residents’ needs upon admission, prepare and incorporate the activities goals into the residents’ plan of careassist in the coordination of, and participate in, resident orientation and identification of potential changes or concerns within the care plan of each residentprovide hands on care, as needed, and create an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, security and joyfulness for the residentsinterprets and promotes residents’ rights and “Residents’ Bill of Rights”provides quarterly or as needed updates and verification regarding resident’s DNR and all other Advanced Directives forms in order to insure that the current desires of the residents are accurately documented and will be followed in accordance to their wishesCoordinates discharges with staff, residents, families and vendors

Community

conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees and others as needed.provides individual and group support for residents and families at times of adjustment, crisis or particular needorients residents and families to the facility environment and assists in the adjustment of bothmaintains an open door policy for all residents, their families and others who support their needs

Emergency & Disaster

must be on call and available in the event of an emergency or disaster affecting the community.

HR

hiring staffmanaging staff (progressive discipline, warnings, PTO, status changes, annual appraisals etc.)creating weekly schedulesensuring staff comply with continuing education and other regulatory requirementsterminating staffprepare staff for inspection surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, being interviewed by inspectors, immediate corrections of problems noted by surveyors, etc. Reviews and reinforces important standards previously cited

Marketing

conducting tours for potential residents and their familiesrequesting positive reviews from family members

Purchasing

ordering of incontinence, office and cleaning suppliesordering groceries

 

Regulatory

ensure compliance with life safety code requirementsensure compliance with health requirements

 

General

Manager must be on duty inside the Avalon community at least 40 hours per weekMust be able to meet all physical demands of the job which includes, but is not limited to: seeing, speaking, touching, walking, standing, bending, reaching overhead, crouching/kneeling or crawling, as well as the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs independently and up to 100lbs with assistance.Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative – willing to go above and beyond to ensure our residents needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment.Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.Must remain flexible and have the ability to work weekends as Manager on Duty, when necessary.Must possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding senior living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living. Qualifications

Prerequisites & Requirements:

Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.Certified Assisted Living Manager (Texas) or Assisted Living Administrator (Missouri) strongly preferredCurrent valid drivers licensePass drug screenExperience:Must have two or more years experience working in Memory care or assisted living at the management levelMust have at least two years experience in Memory CareMust possess at least one of the following:High School diploma or GED bachelor's degreeassociate's degree in nursing, healthcare management or a related fieldCandidates must provide at least two of the followinga recommendation from their current Manager/Executive Director describing candidate's skills for working with residents and families, and other professional service providers;a recommendation from one or more resident family members describing candidate's skills for working with residents and families, and other professional service providers;a recommendation from a professional service provider describing candidate's skills for working with residents and families, and other professional service providers;Must be thoroughly familiar with all caregiving skillsTraining & Certification:Texas Managers must pass the Certified Assisted Living Manager 24 hour course within 2 months of obtaining the position.Missouri Managers must pass the Assisted Living Administrator course within 2 months of obtaining the position.Must complete ALL required training courses for the Avalon Manager Position.  Courses may be found at:
