House Supervisor Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The House Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care services during his/her assigned shift. Provides clinical leadership and administrative functions. Ensures the practice of established policy and procedures. In the absence of the Administrator and /or designee, the House Supervisor has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of the Administrator-on-Call.

 

Responsibilities

Coordinates all aspects of patient care. Moves throughout all three hospitals to monitor, correct, and direct as needed. Coordinates work schedules and shift coverage with the Clinical Resource Dept and other support areas to ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Address issues with patients, family members and physicians if concerns about patient care arise. Address and resolve issues collaboratively with the Administrator on call. Works collaboratively with the transfer center, charge staff and physicians to facilitate patient flow.

Round in each clinical area every two hours • Assigns beds to admissions from ED • they take all outlying calls for direct admits, outlying facility transfers • Care for patients going to the Morgue and leaving the morgue • Manage hospital flow • Assist in all ED Holds waiting admission open beds ( nursing data base, Med Rec 's) • responds to all codes • Post emergency Surgical cases after hours ( 3pm through till 7am) and calls out the on-call team • Assist with coverage of OB while the OB staff assists with emergent C-Sections ( 3pm - throughout the night ) • Takes all calls regarding staff call-ins and works with managers to cover staffing problems • Clinical decision making for Rapid response and code blue hospital wide. Administration of Medications during stress test and clinical decision making for any issues that may arise during the stress test. Management of critical drips and cardiac monitoring ICU patients when in radiology. Overseeing ICU patients with critical drips- Assists with getting supplies for staff • Assist with Telemedicine carts for consults • Covers extra shifts to meet staffing needs  

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education 

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience: 7-10 Years of Nursing Experience

 

Credentials 

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hireWithin 30 days of hire
• Registered Nurse (Required)
