Summary
Maintains environmental and infection control standards and regulatory requirements within the established policies and procedures and performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient care and non patient care areas. Follows and maintains union policies and procedures throughout the scope of work.

Job DutiesStraightens and picks up trash in restrooms, sinks, showers, toilets, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, and surfaces, and replenishes soap and paper products. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares the room for new occupants and follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms. Vacuums carpets, sweeps and mops floors on a routine basis. Dusts vents and polishes all furniture in common areas and residents’ rooms daily. Cleans and polishes fire extinguishers and ice machines weekly. Coordinates housekeeping services with other departments. Cleans all bathrooms and toilet bowls daily. Presents a neat appearance in appropriate dress as required by position, department, and hospital policy. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED Less than 1 year 1 year of experience working as housing aide Ability to interpret and adhere to union policies and procedures. Ability to adhere to safety procedures and protocols. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment at all times. Knowledge of methods of cleaning guest rooms and operation of laundry services.
Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
