Job Overview:

The Housekeeping Worker, under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with hospital objectives.

Essential Functions:

Ability to read a variety of cleaning agent labels and recognize potential hazards. Prepares and uses solutions according to procedureAdheres to Attendance and Reliability Standards. Gives proper notification for absence or tardiness as per policyArranges furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairsAssists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon requestCleans all environmental surfaces in assigned areas according to department policy and procedureCleans and disinfects geri chairs, dayroom furniture, tray tables and other common area furniture as neededEmpties waste baskets, removes trash, vacuums carpets and dry and/or wet mops floors of rooms and officesMaintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when neededMaintains cleanliness of restrooms throughout the facility. Refills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and neat seat dispensers as neededObserves and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures. Cleans and stores supplies and equipment in the housekeeping closetPerforms cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methodsPerforms patient discharge room cleaningScrubs and buffs floors with approved equipmentTransports trash from the utility rooms and other collection points to designated areas. Compacts, incinerates trash or places in containers
