Summary: The houseperson works under close supervision of the housekeeping inspector to help maintain the cleanliness of the hotel. Performs a wide variety of activities such as sweep and vacuum floors and clean restrooms and performs related duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:

Provides guest room attendants (GRA’s) the materials needed to perform their daily tasks. Helps maintain the cleanliness of the hotel. Empties GRA carts three to four times daily and at the end of the shift. Empties trash and unloads soiled linen. Cleans ash trays, trash cans and elevators. Wipes down walls, windows, pictures, mirrors, lamps, wood molding, ice machines and vending machines. Sweeps and mops hard floors and stairwells. Inventories, stocks and keeps neat and clean assigned locker rooms. Supplies cleaning products and equipment to GRA’s. Pan-sweeps and keeps debris such as paper, cigarette wrappers, disposable cups and bottles off the floor. Removes gum from carpets and floors. Vacuums carpets as assigned. Cleans ashtrays and sand urns. Changes sand as assigned. Maintains the cleanliness of the hotel areas to include chairs and décor plants. Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and fixtures, including glass, mirrors, chrome and brass fixtures, paper towel dispensers, light fixtures, lamps, signs, walls and vents, at levels not to exceed nine (9) feet in height. Sweeps and mops stairwells and floors as assigned. Cleans and mops elevators. Fills the chemical bottles at the end of the day. Orders and stocks supplies as assigned. Maintains linen rooms. Takes dirty line hampers to laundry. Empties and cleans the inside and outside of trash containers in assigned area. Cleans dry, wet and biohazardous spills in accordance with company procedures as well as OSHA guidelines as they pertain to biohazardous material. Reports all biohazardous spills to the supervisor immediately. Performs other duties as assigned.
