Housing Assistant
Job Description Reporting directly to the Landlord Outreach Unit Manager, the Housing Assistant will be assigned to conduct various duties for the Lease Housing Section 8 Housing choice voucher program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Review and process certification for eviction service request. 2. Process and close out single deceased move-out cases. 3. Calculate recoupment for subsidy overpayment owed to NYCHA. 4. Liaison with internal and external customers to resolve landlord or tenant issues. 5. Disposition back-office landlord and tenant information requests. 6. Assist landlords with owner extranet issues. 7. Other duties as assigned. NOTE: IF THIS APPOINTMENT IS MADE ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS PURSUANT TO 65 OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE LAW, NO TENURE OR PERMANENCE ACCRUES TO AN INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION BY VIRTUE OF SUCH APPOINTMENT. Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in “1” above; or A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.
