Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience or training in clerical work, housing management, real estate, or social services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
Participates in overseeing housing units for a housing assistance program.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Advanced.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General review from a Housing Supervisor or higher level personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise functional supervision over lower level housing specialists, maintenance, and/or clerical personnel.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Housing Authorities.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from a Housing Specialist 3 by the presence of advanced level housing responsibilities that involve a higher degree of specialization, complexity, and/or independent judgment.
Differs from Housing Supervisor by the absence of direct supervisory responsibility.

Examples of Work
Serves as lead worker and/or provides training to lower-level staff.
Oversees the collection of data from public records and reviews the verification of other information such as income.
Responds to information requests, conducts research, provides solutions to problems, and corrects errors.
Prepares and manages case records and reports concerning information secured and services rendered.
Initiates and maintains relationships with various community agencies and committees which provide leadership, services and programs to meet tenant needs.
Prepares reports and instructional materials; processes all correspondence pertaining to community relations.
May assist in resolving complaints from tenants by conducting informal counseling.
Prepares special statistical reports.
Conducts tenant counseling.
Conducts workshops and makes presentations to owners and tenants about the housing program.
Reviews financial reports and delinquent accounts and negotiates with property owners concerning rent amounts and claims in accordance with program guidelines, including monthly preparation of warrants.
Conducts surveys and investigations for the relocation of tenants.
