The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities. _***_ Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) _(Within Minnesota or neighboring states) and flexible hours options are available_ _.***_ As a Housing Support Accountant, you will coordinate and control the development and maintenance of all fiscal activity for the MAXIS system for distributing cash and housing benefits, which includes: budgets, financial records, fiscal reporting, and other fiscal aspects needed to assure that the assistance programs issued by the system are sufficiently funded and accounted for in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and all applicable laws and regulations. **Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:** + Maintainandcontroltheaccountingsystems andproceduresforfiscaladministration,accountingandfinancial reportingof thefollowing programs issued through theMAXIS system:Housing Support (formerly Group Residential Housing/GRH), General Assistance (GA), Minnesota Supplemental Assistance (MSA), and Emergency General Assistance (EGA). + ProvideongoingcustomerandtechnicalassistanceonissuesrelatedtoMAXISexpendituresandcollections. + Maintain SharePoint project information and update files with documentation as primary or back up to this function. + Assist the Health Care Accounting SupervisororDHS Fiscal Program Operations Managerwithassigned highpriorityand time sensitive projects, including dataretrieval, analysis, developing alternatives, and implementing approved recommendations. **Minimum Qualifications** **_**To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**_** Must meet one (1) of the following qualifications listed below: + One (1) year professional experience in Accounting OR three (3) years advanced technical or paraprofessional experience in Accounting. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field AND two (2) years of advanced technical or paraprofessional experience in Accounting. AND experience must demonstrate: + Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to manage the accounting functions. + Knowledge of financial systems, databases, and office applications. + Interpreting and analyzing fiscal data, reports, and records. + Resolving fiscal discrepancies and developing and implementing fiscal procedures. **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge and experience with the various health care programs administered by Department of Human Services. + SQL or other data mining experience. + Knowledge and experience with the SWIFT statewide accounting system. + Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple demands under tight time constraints. + Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures. **Additional Requirements** REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS – DHS will conduct reference checks to verify job-related credentials and a criminal background check prior to appointment.
