Houston Water Operations Supervisor - DWO Print (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/houston/jobs/newprint/4840398) Apply  Houston Water Operations Supervisor - DWO Salary $33.10 - $36.16 Hourly Location Houston Job Type Full Time Job Number 36384 Department Houston Public Works Division HW-Drinking Water Operations (DWO) Opening Date 02/22/2025 Closing Date 3/2/2025 11:59 PM Central + Description + Benefits + Questions POSITION OVERVIEW Applications Accepted from : ALL PERSONS INTERESTED Section : Drinking Water Operation Location : 2300 Federal Road Workdays & Hours : Mon - Sun, 6:00 am - 6:00 pm Rotating Shifts* Subject to change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Public Works Department is seeking candidates who can plan, coordinate and direct the activities of employees within Drinking Water Operations who are engaged in providing Process System maintenance at the City of Houston’s East Water Purification Plant. + Organizes and assigns the work of Operations crews and monitors work in progress. + Ensures that employees have adequate work supplies and properly functioning equipment to perform assigned tasks. + Analyzes and resolves staff, equipment, and operating problems. + Reviews operations policies and procedures, recommends changes to increase efficiency, implements approved changes. + Trains new employees on work practices and the Work Management System (WMS) procedures. + Sets up and maintains employee attendance records. + Prepares periodic employee performance evaluations, reviews contents with the employees. + Prepares periodic production reports as required and/or requested. + Assist with daily operational tasks as needed, drives City vehicles. + Oversees preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools. + Observe safety regulations and ensures that teams do the same. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS The position routinely requires lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) and periods of walking on a routine basis. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions. This is a Department of Houston Public Works position at the Tier 1 Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Five years of work experience are required, including eighteen months of experience in the operation of flash drying units or dewatering equipment used in a sludge process facility. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving. May require a Texas Commercial driver's license. Requires a valid TCEQ Class "B" Water Operator's certificate appropriate to position location, such as surface water. PREFERENCES Preferences will be given to candidates with a Class “A” level water operator’s certificate issued by the TCEQ. Preferences also given to candidates with supervisory experience and familiarity with surface water and wastewater treatment plant operations, Work Management System, and Microsoft applications Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATION ELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.
