We have an exciting opportunity for a **HPC System Administrator** to join the team with Bastion, a teammate company. ** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. ** We have the need for a **HPC System Administrato** at Johnson Space Center (JSC). This position, working on the JETS II contract, will support the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL). + The FSL is one of JSC's primary computing labs and hosts a wide variety of analyses, which support almost all of the major programs at JSC including the International Space Station (ISS), Orion, Space Launch System (SLS), Commercial Crew Program, Lunar Gateway, Human Landing System (HLS), and many others. + The FSL systems are currently comprised of over 900 machines, 25,000 cores and 4 PB of storage, which serve over 900 users. + In this position you will be working with a team of Systems Administrators to build and maintain all FSL services. This can include HPC administration, high-end Linux workstation administration, high-speed networking, parallel filesystem administration, and more. + The FSL System Administration Team is critical in supporting the FSL users in effectively utilizing the systems. The team's day to day tasks include investigating system problems, proactively monitoring system health, and working with FSL lab users to make sure they can support the NASA human spaceflight mission. **Requisition Qualifications:** This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. + Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and normally possess 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area. + 3 years in IT related field + 1 year of experience in HPC system administration or managing large HPC clusters. + Strong knowledge of administering Linux systems, primarily Red Hat and its derivatives, including services, networking, and file systems. + Strong demonstrated experience with a major configuration management software, including application packaging and installation. + Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting large (petabyte scale) high performance parallel and distributed filesystems such as Lustre, GPFS and Ceph. + Demonstrated problem solving experience + Demonstrated task planning, and effective communication skills + Demonstrated experience assisting others with IT related issues. + Experience working in a team environment **Requisition Preferences:** + RedHat-based systems + IT Service Desk Support + Configuration management software (Ansible, Puppet, etc.) + Lustre Parallel Filesystems + Ethernet Network Administration + InfiniBand Network Administration + Containerization in a HPC environment using Singularity, Docker, or Podman + Monitoring and alerting + SLURM Job Scheduling + SPACK Package Manager + Log consolidation and monitoring + Git/Gitlab and software development (CI/CD) + Experience being a lead for a team of System Administrators + Johnson Space Center campus network + NASA security mechanisms (security plans, POAMs, ATOs, Risk Assessments) **Why Join Our Team?** In addition to exciting career opportunities, we also have: + Excellent personal and professional career growth + 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicable + Onsite cafeteria (breakfast & lunch) + Much, much more!
