As the HR and Safety Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting plant operations through effective human resource and safety initiatives. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will work closely with employees and the management team to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations, while promoting a safe and collaborative working environment.

 

As the HR and Safety Coordinator, your day-to-day will include:

 

Managing general administrative duties related to benefits, payroll, training, and legal compliance, ensuring all HR-related processes run smoothly. Providing timely support and answers to employee inquiries regarding HR matters, fostering strong employee relations. Leading safety orientations for all new hires, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience that prioritizes workplace safety. Maintaining employee personnel files to ensure accuracy and legal compliance. Supporting employee recruitment efforts and contributing to retention initiatives. Performing audits of personnel files and HR processes to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Assisting with the implementation of safety policies in line with the Corporate Safety Department's guidelines, ensuring consistent adherence at the jobsite. Supporting accident investigation reports and coordinating with regional teams as needed. Managing data input and divisional oversight of the Canfor Health, Environmental, Safety, and Sustainability tracking program. Measuring and tracking safety leading and lagging indicators at a divisional level to drive improvements.

 

What you bring to the role:

 

2-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. At least 2 years in health and/or safety training and development. Strong expertise in OSHA regulations and safety best practices. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. A team player with a positive, customer-focused attitude. HR or Business Administration diploma/degree is an asset. Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
