Summary You will serve as a HR Assistant (Military) in the Naval Service Training Command of NROTCU VMI. Responsibilities You will manage the administrative activities of the Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC) Units and Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP). You will serve as the primary conduit for maintaining program continuity for all NROTC program requirements. You will plan, develop and implement procedures for administrative data collection and advises Unit staff on correct procedures. You will compose or type a variety of Naval and business letters, memoranda, directives, statistical and narrative reports, endorsement, messages and forms, utilizing a computer, as appropriate. You will prepare all administrative requirements for commissioning, including Oath of Office, service records, home of record, and commissioning packages. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. GS-06 Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of personnel policies to advise staff on various related processes and entitlements; 2) Entering data into automated database systems; 3) Reviewing administrative documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with established guidelines; and 4) Utilizing office automation equipment and software to prepare reports, forms, and official correspondence. GS-05 Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Maintaining filing systems of various records; 2) Utilizing personal computer to prepare reports, forms and official correspondence; 3) Utilizing software programs to extract, revise, or sort data; and 4) Receiving calls, greeting visitors, and responding to routine requests for information.
