The HR Business Partner liaises between central HR and assigned areas of campus, providing strategic human resources consulting services which align human capital efforts with department goals and initiatives. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and minimum of seven years’ professional Human Resources experience across multiple human resources disciplines including: recruitment/retention, benefits and compensation, training and development, employee relations, and HR compliance. Higher education experience is preferred. Strong business acumen and excellent customer service, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills are required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Supports the development and implementation of their assigned areas’ strategic initiatives. Provides guidance and input ensuring that HR processes are applied equitably, appropriately and in a compliant manner. Collaborates with and maintains strong relationships with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure consistency of guidance, procedure and problem-solving. Engages with leadership of assigned areas to assess and anticipate HR-related needs and align efforts toward a common goal in order to develop viable solutions. Meets regularly with assigned areas, building and developing trusted relationships with their leadership and staff. In collaboration with Compensation, Talent Development and Finance Directors, leads strategic workforce planning strategies for assigned areas. In partnership with Employee Relations, supports staff and managers in the performance management process and any related issues. Provides coaching and guidance on best practices. Provides guidance to assigned areas on workers’ compensation, FMLA, and others leaves of absence in collaboration with the Benefits Analyst to ensure operational continuity. In partnership with the Compensation and Talent Acquisition teams, provides hiring managers and search committees guidance on job evaluation and recruiting processes utilizing best practices in equitable hiring. Maintains in-depth knowledge of policies and procedures related to day-to-day management of employees in order to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Implements processes and touch points throughout the employee lifecycle which positively impacts the overall employee experience. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or as become evident. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum 7 years of professional HR experience required with at least 5 years’ experience in a in a Human Resources Business Partner or similar role. A combination of HR management experience, along with Higher Education administration experience, may be considered. Experience that supports the establishment and maintenance of positive working relationships with diverse constituents. Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and experience working with multiple human resource disciplines, for example, employee relations, compensation, performance management, talent acquisition and development, etc. Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices. Ability to think strategically and creatively to provide effective HR solutions. Must exhibit in philosophy and practice a high level of support for the mission and values of Villanova University. Must be able to serve as a community builder, collaborative business partner, team player, and servant-leader, valuing different backgrounds and life experiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills required. Must be highly organized and willing to learn. Must be able to protect confidentiality of information at a high level. Excellent customer service support skills with demonstrated evidence of strong business acumen including the ability to understand the diverse needs of the faculty, staff and managers they support and adjust services in accordance with those needs and requirements. Excellent conflict resolution and critical thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications: HR certification (such as PHR or SHRM-CP). Master’s degree in HR, business, counseling, organizational development, or related field. HR experience in a higher education setting strongly preferred. Project management skills. Knowledge of the changing demographics and trends of higher education.
