Job Title: HR Compliance Intern

Job Summary:  The HR Compliance Intern will work under the guidance of the People Team Compliance Specialist and will play a crucial role in supporting the compliance efforts within the organization. The intern will assist in ensuring Wawa's compliance with employment legislation, industry-specific regulations, and internal policies. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in HR compliance and contribute to the company's adherence to legal standards.

Principal Duties:

Analyze the entry of hire dates for store operations associates in Workday by comparing Workday data with records from relevant vendor systems to confirm consistency. Identify any discrepancies and areas for improvement, focusing on alignment between systems and adherence to onboarding timelines. Provide recommendations to enhance accuracy and streamline data entry practices.Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance processes by contributing to data management, reporting and compliance audits.  Collaborate with stakeholders to implement improvement plans. Assist in reviewing and adjudicating background checks and I-9 compliance.  Support administrative tasks, including system maintenance and assist in communication of legal compliance requirements. Conduct research on changes in employment laws and regulations.  Assist in policy and procedure drafting and collaborate with cross-functional teams on compliance programs and training. Opportunity to participate in department meetings and communicate with HR leaders.Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by the People Team Compliance Specialist.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum GPA of 3.0 or HigherCandidates must be currently enrolled in a college or university for the Spring 2025 semester – Fall 2026 semesterCandidate must be available from May 19, 2025 – August 7, 2025Enrolled in Human Resources or Business-related degree programStrong computer skills and Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and ExcelWawa currently observes a 4-day in office schedule Monday - Thursday with an opportunity to work remote on Friday.
