HR Generalist
Job Title: HR Generalist Job Description We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in staff/labor relations, compliance, performance management, recruiting, benefits, payroll, training, and HRIS/reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment. Responsibilities + Maintain thorough knowledge of University MOU(s) and serve as first and/or escalated responder for inquiries, informal concerns, and formal complaints. + Support or conduct workplace investigations, draft disciplinary and related actions up to and including termination for approval. + Schedule and monitor the status of and/or facilitate Step I or II employee grievances, coordinate meetings, prepare case files, investigatory reports, and case close-out documentation. + Provide guidance to FM supervisors and managers in understanding and applying available benefits, policies, rules, and collective bargaining agreements. + Process and coordinate actions pertaining to workplace injuries, medical leave, and accommodation in collaboration with UHR and other stakeholders. + Respond to management and staff inquiries regarding performance management, attendance, and/or conduct issues. + Counsel management in the application of performance management and/or progressive discipline processes. + Review position descriptions and performance documentation to ensure correlation between actual and communicated expectations. + Assist in coordination of employee onboarding and offboarding, mid-year, and final PRD/PIP processes; ensure compliance with disciplinary, PRD, and MOU deadlines. + Coordinate with FMHR Employment subject matter experts to advise client supervisors on position description updates and/or modifications. + Assist in the development and/or modification of position descriptions. + View and/or enter employment actions in various HRIS databases. + Assist in the implementation, design, or execution of human resources workshops, information sessions, and/or lunch & learn programs. + Partner with Payroll to respond to inquiries regarding pay, professional development days, and/or employment verification. + Lead or attend related meetings including Safety Meetings, Employee/Supervisor Orientation, Diversity Training, New Hire Onboarding, etc. + Answer basic questions regarding University benefits, tuition reimbursement, and recruiting. + Ensure initial expectation-setting meetings for new hires within provided guidelines, set calendar reminders for management, follow up to track employee onboarding post 90-day mark, and participate in the Exit Interview process. + Consult with FM and/or University Communications Personnel, as necessary, to contribute to FMHR announcements, web page, social media presence, and other communication vehicles. + Support University, Divisional, and FM-wide staff diversity, recognition, and/or appreciation programming and events. + Attend unit and/or campus-wide committee meetings and serve on interdepartmental project teams. + Provide support to FMHR Unit, assist with search and selection processes, new hire onboarding, and/or benefits enrollment process as needed. + Serve as Team Lead and assist in training or assign work to HR Admins and HR Generalist I or II. + Create and manage paper and electronic records. + Use applicable software to generate reporting and produce metrics/reports related to discipline, medical leave, grievances, and other staff relations items. + Essential Skills + Five or more years of related HR experience in employee/labor relations. + At least three years of experience in HR Compliance, including ADA, FMLA, and other medical leave processing as well as Grievance/Complaint investigation, processing, and facilitation. + Bachelor's Degree + Experience in Workday.
