SummaryThe HR Generalist is a key role, responsible for addressing employee questions or concerns, executing HR initiatives, and providing HR support to the Director of Human Resources as well as the branch-level teammates. Physical Demands & Work Environment• Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.• Lifting and/or moving up to ten pounds regularly is expected, and up to fifty pounds on occasion.• Occasionally may be required to shadow on a job site where conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Addresses employee questions or concerns as it relates to benefits, compensation, training, policy and procedure, management, performance, and general human resources inquiresSends 30-day, 90-day, and Exit Surveys and evaluates potential areas for improvement, concern, or stellar performance, prepares additional surveys for distribution at both Corporate and branch levelAssists management with progressive discipline processes (such as Employee Counseling Reports (ECR) and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP))Processes unemployment claimsPrepares employment verification for current and inactive team members.Oversees the internal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave of Absence (LOA), and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) process and procedureConducts investigationsStays up to date on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulationsProvides guidance to managers on how to handle various situations as they relate to HRPrepares weekly, monthly, and as-needed reports for both Corporate, as well as branch-level managementRectifies errors related to employee pay (incorrect payroll deductions, pay discrepancies, etc.)Prepares quarterly last raise reports for all Florida branches.Collaborates with outside vendors, general counsel, and outside counsel as neededReviews and gathers data for yearly EEO reports.Administers HR SharePointStays in regular contact with over 50 hiring managers across the state of FloridaTravels to branch offices regularly and as needed to maintain relationships with all teammates approximately 20% of the timeEnsure employee records are up to date (address, emergency contact, etc.)Creates and revises SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)Assists in the creation and implementation of company policies on both branch and Corporate levelOther duties may be assignedRequired Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).High school diploma or equivalent (GED)Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Psychology, or related field2+ years of experience in the Human Resources fieldExcellent management of changing deadlines and ability to rationalize risk and evaluate priorityFantastic interpersonal skills, including during periods of intense stress and changing situationsAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as medical documents, federal and state documents, company Handbook, previous documentation (ECRs, PIPs, offer letters), as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and teammates.Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, strong skills in Adobe Acrobat. Extremely strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Ability to learn various software, including Deltek Vision, SAP Concur, SurveyMonkey, among others.Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working in A/E/C industrySHRM, aPHR and/or PHR certificationExperience with HRIS systems (Workday, Paycom, Paylocity, etc.)Ability to execute Pivot Tables and v-lookups in Microsoft ExcelWho We Are:   UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
