We are seeking HR Generalist to serve as a key member of the facility’s leadership team. This position will support local and global HR programs and coordinate, track and measure related results. The incumbent serves as a business partner to multiple levels of the organizational hierarchy and ensures that objectives are achieved within a fast-paced environment in which the handling of multiple tasks simultaneously is the expected norm.
Essential Functions
Serves as subject-matter expert for all HR functionals areas with particular emphasis on employee relations, compensation, employee engagement, and performance managementIdentifies and implements improvements to core HR functions using a continuous-improvement mindsetEstablishes, maintains, and controls personnel records, files, and organizational charts.Serves as project manager for local and global HR programs as appropriate. Tracks milestones, regularly reports status, and ensures objectives are achieved and delivered on time. Drives performance-appraisal, merit-increase, and other core HR processes across the site populationMaintains site HR calendar and leads related communications for specific HR programs such as annual enrollmentConducts new hire orientation and prepares related paperwork and onboarding materials for both regular and temporary employeesServes as the first point-of-contact and acts as liaison to new and existing employees in explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standardsWork in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferredRelocation is not offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of WestRock’s Lansing, MI location will be consideredMinimum of 5 years of experience human resources functionsMust be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipPreferred Qualifications
Proven track record of success in managing complex projects Familiarity with HR principles and best practices and can be trusted with confidential and/or sensitive information.Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly while displaying a keen eye for detail. High degree of comfort with workplace change and ambiguityStrong oral, written and presentation skills, coupled with demonstrated ability to build positive professional relationships and provide a high level of customer serviceStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPointModels WestRock’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Accountability and holds others to the same standardsProven ability to be resourceful and drive projects and programs autonomously, with limited oversight Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
