The College of Medicine is seeking a full time HR Consultant with the potential to hire a Senior HR Consultant dependent on experience to perform a variety of human resources support responsibilities for the College of Medicine (COM) and UC Physicians, Inc. (UCP). This position will ensure the delivery of excellent customer service, emphasizing communication, teamwork and collaboration and seeks ways to support and develop standardized processes and common procedures.
Essential Functions Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Human Resources functions and best practices. Partner with assigned departments to understand business processes, business needs and implications for HR processes. Serve as an information resource and consult with faculty and staff on HR policies, procedures, processes, employee relations and performance management. Create COM and UCP Human Resources processes, procedures, forms, and databases. Manage projects related to process improvement initiatives. Consult with department leadership to understand recruiting and hiring needs. Recruit and hire candidates, including creating positions, job postings, sourcing candidates, making offers, screening references, and onboarding. Interface with departments and candidates to process initial faculty appointments. Complete onboarding and exit processing for faculty members and clinical providers. Manage and coordinate the visa application process for foreign nationals and act as a liaison between the department and the International Office concerning all foreign work authorization activities. Review benefits information with staff and faculty members and communicates basic benefits questions from employees. Design and generate reports related to recruitment, retention, internal salaries, etc. Administer and oversee payroll processes for staff and faculty members. Upon request from department, make initial recommendation regarding compensation adjustments after compiling and analyzing relevant compensation data. Advise employees regarding leave policies and employee rights and responsibilities while interfacing with UC Leave Administrators, Department Administrators, and employees to ensure leave is administered per guidelines. Consult with departments on Reductions in Force, For Cause, and Without Cause terminations. Must maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity. Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC’s Records Retention Schedule. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Bachelor’s Degree. Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.Required Experience
