You will "own" human resources at the site, identifying opportunities for improvements, driving change and implementing key initiatives. We're looking for a strong leader who sees new challenges as fresh opportunities for improvement -- someone who has the vision to see what could be and the tactical skills to make it happen. You'll make an impact as you put new systems in place, take on projects and corporate initiatives, influence and coach leaders, own talent management and employee relations and much more. You'll act as a true partner to diverse business operations and 170 employees, from operators to technicians to site leaders.
Reporting to the Refining & Logistics HR Director, you will supervise one HR team member at the site to provide onsite HR professional support to 130+ refinery employees and 35+ logistics employees at terminal operations in Wyoming, Montana, and Washington. You will assume responsibility for all human resources activities and programs for the site, supporting a variety of functional areas, including Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Commercial, and more.
Your key objectives will include:
Fostering a positive high-performing workplace culture with an outstanding safety record thorough effective communication and partnership with employees, managers, and external organizations. Executing key strategies, programs and HR initiatives – ensuring alignment with corporate and local business objectives. Provide guidance and training on labor laws, employee relations, and best practices for maintaining an engaged workforce. Collaborate with legal counsel to develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor regulations and mitigate potential risks. Act as a strategic partner to management to address and advise on workforce challenges. Oversee recruitment and onboarding activities Develop programs and effective HR strategies that promote employee retention and development, enhance employee engagement, and maximize productivity. Provide information, advice and assistance to leadership regarding the application of policies, procedures and relevant regulations. Manage employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and leading parties to mutually acceptable resolution. Administer compensation and benefits and make recommendations for change or improvement. And more.
Qualifications:
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Human Resources Manager - opportunity, you will have:
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred. Candidates with equivalent related experience will be considered in lieu of degree. 5 – 7 years of solid and broad human resources experience required with expertise in: Employee relations to include conducting effective workplace investigations HR policies, procedures and systems Performance management Leave administration Payroll administration Compensation & benefits Project management skills Developing and conducting robust employee/manager training HR compliance and employment law Change management Professional certification(s) (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) is a plus Proven success influencing and coaching site leaders and exercising conflict management tactics Strong business savvy and the ability to influence the decision-making process The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally Supervisory experience is a plus Comprehensive understanding of labor laws, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) Experience working with unionized workforces, including interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements is a plus Knowledge of strategies and practices to address employee concerns and support a direct employee-management relationship. Demonstrated ability to foster open communication and trust between employees and management. Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Familiarity with enterprise HRIS applications (experience with SAP SuccessFactors or Dayforce is a plus) Experience in the Oil & Gas industry or a heavy industrial / manufacturing environment Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to Corporate and other locations as required for training or meetings

Our Refineries and Logistics Operations
