As a Human Resources Service Center Specialist, you will responsible for Human Resources, Payroll and Benefit related task processing along with managing escalated cases from employees regarding various Human Resources areas. The HR Service Center (HRSC) Specialist should have a broad subject matter expertise in the areas of human resources with a concentration in benefits - health & welfare benefits, 401k and cash balance/pension. Also familiarity of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is a plus. The HRSC Specialist will also support the daily activities of the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC).

Responsibilities Research issues, interpret legislation, company policies, procedures, plan documents, contracts and related documentation and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills in order to ensure the best solution is found for each situation. Utilize knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws, as well as, Federal Motor Carrier Regulations (FMSCA), Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment (USERRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Cafeteria Plans, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Communicate and liaise with appropriate employees, managers and third parties while researching and resolving employee HR and benefit issues. Draft legally sound communications as needed.Act as HR subject matter expert for multiple Company benefit plans and HR administration. Including (but not limited to): all health and welfare plans, open enrollment, leaves of absence, service awards, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSOs), 401(k) plan, and company pension plan. Protect the Company by always maintaining a high level of confidentiality.Responsible for daily phone coverage and utilize the HRSC case management system and other tools to actively manage caseload in accordance with team production goals and established quality standards.Run various interfaces, queries and reports to transfer data to vendors or share information with management. Assist in testing of upgrades to PeopleSoft, vendor interfaces, etc., as needed.Perform special projects as necessary, conducting applicable research and organizing information.Why Suburban Propane? Qualifications High School diploma or GED Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources; knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws, Federal Motor Carrier regulations, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, Cafeteria Plans, USERRA, FMLA and ADA, as well as experience handling benefits, retirement plans and leaves of absence is preferred. Understands basic office protocol and demonstrates clear communication skillsHas prior experience with Human Resources/Payroll systems. Some experience with case management technologies is a plus. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word and Excel. Understands basic office protocol and demonstrates strong communication skills.
