HRIS Intern
Interfor
**HRIS Intern, Burnaby, BC**
Are you ready to dive into the world of HR
technology, solve real challenges, and make an impact? Interfor is looking for
a curious, problem-solving **HRIS Intern** to join our team for a 12-month
contract—with the possibility of extension. This role is perfect for a 4th-year
student or recent graduate who’s eager to gain hands-on experience in HR
systems, data analytics, and process improvements.
This role will require you to be on-site at our Metrotown office at least 4-days a week, with flexibility as needed.
**What You'll Do**
From day one, you won’t just be observing—you’ll be
actively contributing to exciting projects, troubleshooting real issues, and
helping to improve our HR systems. Here’s what your journey with us will look
like:
**Your First Month: Learning the Ropes**
+ Get to know our HRIS systems (Cornerstone, ADP, UKG, Tableau) and how they support our people operations.
+ Meet the HR Systems team and key partners across HR, IT, and Total Rewards.
+ Dive into system troubleshooting—learning how to diagnose and resolve common HR tech issues.
+ Start exploring Tableau and SharePoint, tools you’ll use to create impactful data stories and process improvements.
**First Three Months: Taking Ownership**
+ Conduct system audits to ensure data integrity and recommend improvements.
+ Begin building dashboards in Tableau to help visualize HR trends.
+ Partner with HR teams to refine processes, making workflows more efficient and user-friendly.
+ Manage incoming HR tech inquiries, tracking trends and common issues.
+ Support quarterly system updates, testing configurations and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
**Six Months In: Driving Impact**
+ Take the lead on a process improvement initiative, collaborating with stakeholders to make meaningful changes.
+ Develop training materials and guides for HR teams on best system practices.
+ Become a go-to resource for HRIS troubleshooting, handling complex inquiries with confidence.
+ Support data governance efforts, ensuring compliance with security and records management standards.
**By One Year: A Budding HR Tech Professional**
+ Own key reporting tasks, analyzing and presenting HR data that drives decision-making.
+ Deliver recommendations based on system analytics, helping shape the future of our HRIS strategy.
+ Lead knowledge-sharing sessions, teaching others what you’ve learned.
+ Have a portfolio of real-world HR tech projects under your belt, setting you up for a career in HR technology, data analytics, or business systems.
**What You’ll Bring to the Team:**
+ A curious mindset—you love problem-solving and digging deep to find answers, you don’t accept “I don’t know” or “no” as an answer.
+ A passion for technology, data, and improving processes, you’re always keeping up with the newest trends and products.
+ Strong analytical skills, with some experience in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and a willingness to learn Tableau.
+ Great communication—you can explain technical details in a clear, engaging way, and folks never have to follow up with you to ask when something will be finished.
+ The ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, when works assigned to you, everyone knows you’ll get it done.
**What You Offer**
+ Pursuing or recently completed a degree (Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred).
+ Interest in HR systems, data analytics, or process automation.
+ Familiarity with MS Office, especially Excel and Teams.
**Why Join Us?**
This is more than an internship—it’s an opportunity to launch your career in HR tech. You’ll gain hands-on experience, work on meaningful projects, and be part of a supportive team that values learning and innovation.
