Job Description
Canroof Corporation Inc. is currently seeking a 12-month Contract HSE Coordinator to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Toronto, ON Plant. Our manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure training matrix is up to date, create a monthly training schedule, and support/guide supervisors on providing the trainingUpdate employee STOP card and Field Level Risk Assessment inputs and complianceReview HSE related KPI's in order to target areas of improvementEnsure corporate and site specific programs and procedures are developed and implemented, such as industrial Hygiene monitoring programsLiaise with plant staff on health, safety and environmental issuesOversee contractors and activities during on-site projects to ensure compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations in addition to all H&S site requirementsComplete daily Work Permits as requiredMeet and update with the site HSE Specialist on a daily basisUpdate and monitor Corporate and Site Pandemic procedures and complianceAssist with Pandemic screening process and plan updatesPrinting and marking of HSE testing, and ongoing updating of recordsWeekly and monthly checks on safety equipment (eyewash stations, showers, etc.)Be an active participant in the JHSC meetingsContractor orientation – as neededOther site duties may be assigned by the HSE Specialist (i.e. WHMIS (GHS) inventory and updates), Site safety maps update, etc.)Qualifications, Skills and Education:
Working towards a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in occupational health and safety from accredited University or CollegeA minimum of one (1) year health & safety experience – preferredExcellent organization and analytical skillsStrong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skillsAbility to establish priorities and work effectively in a teamExcellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), SharePoint, etc.Strong technical writing skills to be able to create documents for an adult learning audienceStrong commitment to the Health and Safety and the EnvironmentPreferred Experience:
Knowledge of health, safety and/or environmental legislation will be an assetPrior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be an assetAbility to read and interpret safety and environmental legislationShould be comfortable to wear personal protective equipment including safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves and mask.Location: Toronto - Commissioners
