The HSE Director will report to VP Operations in North America Organization (NAO) and functionally to Group HSE Director.
 

The HSE Director position is established to support and ensure all applicable legal, company and other requirements which are known. He/she is a key contributor in the decision-making process on setting HSE direction as part of the continuous improvement mindset, and informs and advises Management and support functions on HSE matters.
 

The ambition is to provide a accidents free, and a healthy and safe environment within NAO.
 

The main missions of the role are to: 

•    Drive a culture of transparency and anticipation to secure a healthy and safe environment, including the courage to send alerts for potential risks
•    Provide clear recommendations to management for crisis situation, e.g. weather emergencies
•    Analyze the region results and bring a global vision to the HSE risk assessment, ensuring accident enquiries are properly achieved (time- and quality-wise). Suggest solutions for improvement
•    Elaborate and drive a mid-term strategy for HSE complemented with monitoring and execution of action plan for the NAO across Divisions
•    Ensure consolidation and follow-up of the monthly reporting of key indicators (accidents, environmental data, fire safety, energy consumption...) in NAO
•    Secure HSE tools and procedures for R&D, Programs and plant management in the BG in compliance with applicable legal & Group rules & requirements. Ensure proper implementation
•    Plan and monitor the appropriate level of staffing in HSE within the region, including the anticipated evolution of HSE organization and individuals
•    Drive, challenge and coach Division HSE Managers and support their development as well as the development of key resources
•    Organize critical site reviews.

Governance: 
•    Validate Targets Setting & Monitoring for HSE KPI with strong Group and Division collaboration
•    Escalate critical risks, track alerts (AMS) and ensure the execution of mitigation actions
•    Report results to the monthly NAO operations meeting as well as required group reports

Network :
•    Drive a continuous improvement culture by animating NAO HSE network and secure alignment with the Group
•    Encourage best practice sharing across Divisions with a culture of transparency and continuous improvement for HSE
•    Participate in the development of Group HSE policies

What we can do for you

Experience:
•    Minimum education level: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field
•    8+ years in HSE and additional roles in operations preferred
•    Experience in leading big transformational projects 
•    Able to structure work towards milestones, meet deadlines, report progress in a challenging environment
•    Working in a multi-site environment & matrixed organization
