Job Description

IKO Industries, located in Kankakee, Illinois, is a market leader in the manufacturing of roofing and building materials. IKO is a Canadian owned and operated business with production facilities worldwide.  We are currently seeking Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Interns to join our team of skilled professionals. 

Students will be working under the guidance of our HSE Specialists or Engineers, in intern positions that will provide a wide range of experience and responsibilities.  Flexible dates and schedules are available. Typical Job Duties include but are not limited to:

Work with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist and plant team leaders (Supervisors, Reliability Engineer, Millwrights, etc.), to help drive progress with company-wide safety initiatives as well as policies, procedures, and programsAssist with defined projects and that support worker health, safety, and environmental complianceConduct plant safety inspections and auditsUpdate the department’s internal documentation libraryLiaise with plant staff on health, safety and environmental issuesAssist HSE Specialist/Engineer with other projects as needed

Skills:

Proficient in MS Excel (advanced functionality), MS Word, MS Power Point & Adobe Acrobat. Able to read and interpret drawings, proficiency in AutoCAD is a plusCritical thinking skills, and high degree of organization are a mustFluent in English (spoken and written)Troubleshooting capability is a plus

Education:

Sophomore, Junior, or Senior specializing in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, or related fields.
