HSE Regional Fleet Safety Manager

Job Summary:

The Fleet Safety Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Internal Fleet Management team at Circle K in the United States. This position is responsible for enhancing safety culture, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations governing tank truck carriers. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess comprehensive knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations, including DOT, TSA/HAZMAT Security, OSHA, the Federal Drug & Alcohol Program, FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and SMS/SAFER scores.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop, implement, and oversee the DOT compliance and hazardous materials program.Collaborate with local Fleet Management and Senior Leadership to promote a safe and efficient fleet operation.Monitor and support safety programs for fleet personnel.Continuously improve safety programs through scheduled terminal visits and audits.Assist with DOT compliance, insurance liability, and workers’ compensation claims.Lead quarterly in-person safety meetings at each fleet terminal.Conduct bi-annual fleet terminal inspections, ensuring follow-up and corrective actions are completed, with escalation of safety concerns as needed.Support incident/accident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and follow-up management.Maintain logbook compliance records, ensuring retention and auditing 10% of driver logs monthly for DOT compliance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Preferred Experience: 5+ years in one or more of the following industries:Vacuum and/or Pump TrucksCommercial Underground ConstructionUnderground UtilitiesOil and GasWaste ManagementEquipment RentalsIn-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, with a focus on U.S. Department of Transportation safety regulations.Expertise in DOT hazardous materials and cargo tank regulations as they pertain to fuel transporters.Willingness and ability to travel within and occasionally beyond the assigned region.Strong understanding of behavior-based safety programs.Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a closely related field.Consideration for relevant safety certifications in lieu of a degree.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
