Human and Organizational Performance Consultant (Job Family)

The HOP Consultant's work will largely consist of in-field observations, individual, team, and leadership coaching and reinforcement, HOP curriculum development, and virtual and in person formal training instruction for all NiSource business units. The Principal Consultant will also serve as a subject matter expert for vertical HOP integration efforts and will partner with bargaining unit, management, and contract personnel to integrate and reinforce HOP principles, concepts, tools and techniques. The reporting location for this role is flexible within the Pennsylvania, Virginia or Ohio service territory.
**Essential Functions**
+ Lead and provide subject matter expertise in the development of HOP curriculum and reinforcement activities.
+ Lead formal and informal, virtual and in person, HOP training and reinforcement activities within all NiSource business units.
+ Provide real-time coaching and reinforcement to management and front-line workers on the proper application of HOP Principles, Error Reduction Tools, and desired safe behaviors.
+ Lead the integration of HOP principles, concepts, tools and techniques into technical training programs, leadership development programs, employee onboarding, general employee training, and operations daily huddles and leadership briefings.
+ Engage Management and Front-Line Employees in vertical HOP integration efforts to ensure adequate systems are in place for high-risk work activities.
+ Facilitate structured Learning Teams to explore everyday operations (work as done) or in response to an event to identify system vulnerabilities and improvement opportunities.
+ Conduct HOP field observations and on-site coaching within assigned business units. When system deficiencies are identified, communicate to leadership, and leverage the Corrective Action Program.
+ Monitor HOP integration effectiveness and communicate deficiencies to HOP Leadership to aide in proper development of targeted improvement opportunities.
+ Collect, trend, analyze and discuss organizational and departmental HOP data. Engage stakeholders regularly to drive proactive improvements.
+ Partner with key stakeholders such as Asset and Risk Management, Organizational Change Management, Process Safety, and Technical Training in the design and execution of cultural change programs to drive adoption of human and organizational performance improvements.
+ Facilitate a culture of open reporting and blame-free investigations to increase the capability to drive to effective problem solving in human error related events.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to HOP Consultants and Champions.
+ Lead the review and evaluation of HOP tools utilized in the industry and organizationally to ensure the effective use of HOP tools and to maintain alignment with current industry practices.
+ Other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications For Position**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
+ A minimum of 7 years of professional HOP work experience.
+ Strong influencer and history of conducting leadership and front-line field coaching and reinforcement.
+ Understanding of adult learning principles and 5 years of curriculum development experience.
+ Proven experience training management and front-line employees.
+ Experience leading causal evaluations and learning teams.
+ Strong knowledge and experience in HOP training programs and implementation.
+ Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and at times competing deliverables.
+ Experience navigating matrixed organization. Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive projects to closure, achieve desired results and successfully implement change.
**Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position**
+ 9 years in a utility industry environment. Experience in Gas, Electric and Generation.
+ Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals.
+ Thorough knowledge of NiSource compliance and safety issues.
+ Working knowledge of NiSource policies, procedures, and standards.

$93,800.00 - $165,300.00
