The Human Resources Generalist is an important member of the Human Resources team. This HR Generalist position primarily focus is employee relations, leave administration, worker’s compensation claim administration, and benefits. This position requires a dynamic individual who can balance administrative duties with employee support, ensuring that all processes are compliant and that employee concerns are addressed with professionalism and empathy. Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
Serve as a resource for employees and management on employee relations issues, fostering a positive and collaborative workplace.Assist with conflict resolution, counseling, and coaching for employees and managers to address concerns and ensure productive working relationships.Conduct investigations into employee complaints or grievances and recommend appropriate actions based on findings.Support the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives to promote workplace satisfaction and retention.Leave Administration:
Oversee all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, short-term disability, and other company-specific leave policies.Process and track employee leave requests, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Maintain accurate leave records and ensure timely documentation.Work with employees and managers to coordinate return-to-work processes and accommodations for employees on leave.Benefits Administration:
Administer and manage the company’s employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans.Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries about benefits, providing guidance on eligibility, enrollment, and usage.Prepare and deliver open enrollment communications, materials, and educational sessions for employees.Collaborate with benefit broker, external vendors and insurance providers to resolve issues and ensure the smooth operation of benefits programs.Worker’s Compensation:
Administer the worker’s compensation program, including managing claims from initiation through resolution.Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety department regarding worker’s compensation claims and workplace safety.Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding worker’s compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up.Coordinate with insurance providers, medical professionals, and legal counsel to ensure compliance and resolve claims efficiently.Maintain accurate records of worker’s compensation claims and provide reporting to management as needed.Assist with return-to-work coordination for injured employees, including facilitating light duty assignments and accommodations approved by the EHS manager.Stay up-to-date on worker’s compensation laws and best practices, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.General HR Support:
Provide general HR support and assistance with other HR programs, policies, and initiatives.Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.Assist in preparing HR-related reports, audits, and regulatory filings as needed.Collaborates with other member of the HR team as well as other departments.Stay current on changes to laws and regulations related to benefits, leave, worker’s compensation, and employee relations.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on benefits, leave administration, employee relations, and worker’s compensation.Previous experience conducting thorough, unbiased workplace investigations and determining the appropriate resolutions.Extensive knowledge of federal and California state leave laws (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA) and worker’s compensation regulations.Experience managing retirement and/or pension plans is a plus.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mediate and resolve employee relations issues.Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism.Experience in managing and administering worker’s compensation claims, including familiarity with reporting and compliance requirements.High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS systems.PHR, SPRH, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification (preferred but not required).Handling headcounts of 250 or more.Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.Salary:
