Human Resources Assistant
Job Title: Human Resources Assistant Job Description As a Human Resources Assistant, you will maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. You will answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding standard policies, benefits, and hiring processes, referring more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or management. Additionally, you will maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records, perform periodic audits, and provide clerical support to the HR department. Responsibilities + Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. + Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. + Refer more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or management. + Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records. + Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. + Provide clerical support to the HR department. + Process required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters. + Act as a liaison between employees and benefits/payroll. + Conduct new hire orientation. + Run human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports. + Assist recruiting by posting approved positions, screening applicants, scheduling pre-employment testing, interviews, and presenting pre-approved offers. + Assist with planning and execution of special events and HR-related training. + Assist HR Manager II with special projects and research. + Track FMLA, Work Comp, work visas, etc. + Be the point of contact and assist union employees during benefit open enrollment and new hire benefit enrollment. + Conduct weekly safety observations and maintain open communication with employees to keep them highly engaged. + Coordinate with HR Administrators in other locations to support and be a backup for all sites as needed for employee onboarding. + Lead the internship program for the Totowa site and coordinate presentations with other sites. + Facilitate communication, interpret, and translate spoken or written information from one language to another (Spanish/English preferred). + Adapt duties, responsibilities, and activities as necessary with or without notice. Essential Skills + 2+ years of HR experience + Bilingual in English/Spanish + Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite + Proficient with or ability to quickly learn ADP, HRIS, and similar computer applications + Excellent problem-solving skills + Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment + High level of integrity and adherence to the highest ethical standards Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate's degree in a related field required + SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred Work Environment This position is onsite in the manufacturing plant - schedule is 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. + must be flexible to come in early or late as needed and work overtime hours if required.
