Human Resources Assistant (per diem) - Labor
Job Description The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person. The core values of CARES guide our work for communities and inform our behavior toward each other and all those we serve. - Commitment: Dedicated to the mission at all times - Accountability: Responsible to each other and the community - Resilience: Adapt in the face of adversity - Excellence: Achieve and maintain the highest quality - Service: Innovate to meet evolving needs Under the supervision of the HR Project Coordinator, with some latitude for independent judgment the selected candidate will be responsible for the below: Employee Discipline & Labor Relations - Builds and maintains case files for disciplinary and labor related matters - Assists in liaising with internal and external parties, including but not limited to the DOHMH Employment Law Unit and various employee labor organizations - Assists in maintaining and updating spreadsheets and reports tracking employee discipline and grievances - Assists in the preparation, design, and delivery of disciplinary process training material - May assist in investigations, and compilation of records, as well as review materials provided by programs for edits Training & Communications -Serve as agency training liaison, completing enrollments in accordance with City processes -Coordinate and schedule trainings, working with managers to assess training needs -Learn to monitor and illicit feedback, recommending adjustments as necessary -Assist in the creation, maintenance, and updating of training materials, including presentations, handouts, etc. -Support Performance Management, and Performance Management Compliance Employee Engagement -Support initiatives that foster employee engagement through effective communication of HR programs, events, and surveys -Manage and coordinate employee feedback mechanisms such as surveys or focus groups, ensuring the results are communicated effective to stakeholders - Assist in organizing events on behalf of HR and the agency Documentation & Reporting -Organize and maintain HR files and records -Prepare and learn to analyze reports -May assist with HR-Compliance and other projects as needed Qualifications 1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required. 2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
