We are seeking a Human Resources Business Partner for our office in Anaheim, CA. The Human Resources Business Partner will support multiple assigned business units across Willdan. The role will facilitate workforce planning, employee engagement, coaching/performance management, talent development, employee relations, communications and operational initiatives in alignment with business unit needs, goals and the Willdan vision and values. Business units may be a combination of multi-state/multi-site and unique lines of business in the areas of engineering, software development, corporate services, consulting, construction or energy program management. The HRBP position is a critical role in delivering Human Resources shared services, and in supporting the operational needs of assigned business units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Delivers HR consultation to leaders in assigned business unit(s) and/or geographic region(s) that aligns with business objectives.Facilitates strategic people planning efforts to include workforce expansions, contract project startups and restructuring, compensation, job evaluations, performance management, mergers and acquisitions, leadership development, and succession planning.Leads compensation activities to include determining exemption status, wage ranges, job pricing, merit, and other wage increases. Collaborates with business leaders, financial team, Human Resources Department colleagues, and legal department with timely commission plan revisions and/or new compensation program implementations. Facilitates effective management of individual and organizational performance through support of the performance appraisal process, performance improvement activities, and coaching of leaders and employees.Works with key stakeholders to effectively and timely respond to employee relations matters, workplace investigations, ethics hotline reports, injured workers needs and leave of absence situations. Facilitates, either directly or through others, a successful new hire onboarding process and ensures timely recordkeeping of various employee record transactions such as new hires, promotions, job transfers, wage changes, performance appraisals, leaves of absence and terminations. Generates and analyzes reports to support business decisions or ad hoc requests by operations management and/or government agency required reporting.Supports communication of benefits and compensation programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary, 401(k) retirement savings, and employee stock purchase program to employees in assigned business units. Refers employees appropriately to the benefits or leave of absence team members. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements affecting Human Resources and operations functions to help ensure policies, procedures, programs, and reporting are compliant based on federal, multi-state and local regulations for assigned business unit(s). Credibly responds to related inquiries on these topics in a timely manner.Collaborate with others throughout the organization to initiate and drive new programs and processes to enhance the employee experience at Willdan.May participate in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion work groups and/or assist with supporting Willdan’s sustainability and energy transformation initiatives and community outreach initiatives.For the Company’s annual employee engagement survey, facilitates rollout and interpretation of results at the business unit level, collaborates with business unit leaders in disseminating results to employees and development of and execution of strategic initiatives adopted by the business unit(s) leaders. May assist in development and delivery of training for various employee groups. Supports the needs for learning and development as needed in assigned business units. Curates online learning modules for employees as needed. May curate learning collections or series to enhance the personal development of all employees or in order to facilitate compliance or contractual requests of business unit clients.In conjunction with Talent Acquisition team, may provide guidance and insight around key talent acquisition workforce planning. May actively support talent acquisition activities either directly or in collaboration with others as required. May support and facilitate employment offer letters if needed.Review new hire onboarding survey feedback and follow up with new hire employees and management as appropriate.Conduct exit interviews with employees leaving the company, as appropriate. Effectively inspire coworkers, business partners and management to find ways to develop Willdan’s brand as an employer of choice. Partners with leaders to drive operational excellence and support the delivery of the Willdan vision to our employees, clients and our communities.Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor, as business needs dictate. Operates every day with safety as the top priority for self and other employees, takes proactive measures to ensure a safe work environment. May be involved in addressing safety issues, initiatives and training for business units and worksites as needed in collaboration with the Environmental Health and Safety Department.Job Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial psychology, business, or related area preferred.Four or more years of progressively responsible human resources generalist experience.Experience working in professional services industries such as engineering, energy sustainability, software development, project/contractual work is preferred. Must be able to relate comfortably with diverse groups of people.Ability to operate with care and compassion for fellow colleagues and promote a positive work environment. Track record of prioritizing multiple projects and tasks to ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders while delivering excellent customer service in a rapidly changing environment.Ability to provide top-notch customer service in shared services business model. Ability to effectively balance the needs of key stakeholders, Company vision, values and compliance.Effective listening, verbal communication, and written communication skills with proven ability to appropriately adjust messaging to different audiences.Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, changing entrepreneurial work environment.Proven reputation of being a problem solver with a history of leading process improvement.Ability to listen and consider various viewpoints of others and deploy persuasion or influencing skills as appropriate.Ability to understand multiple lines of business operations each with complexity in their core business models and custom needs in HR services and support.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.Competent in navigating HRIS systems, ADP Workforce Now experience ideal but not required.Broad knowledge of multi-state employment laws and regulations.HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.Ability to travel up to 15% of the time. Travel may include various means of transportation including automobile, public transportation, rail and airplane, across multiple time zones in the domestic US.
