Student Affairs seeks an experienced and talented HR professional to join our team and provide effective human resources services to assigned business units. The ideal candidate will have a passion for talent acquisition and engagement and in all the roles of an HR generalist, including staffing and retention, training and development, compensation, employee relations, performance coaching and management. This role will report to the HR Director for Student Affairs and serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to managers and staff. In this role, you will:
Collaborate with Student Affairs managers and the HR team to support initiatives by understanding the organization's issues and needs. Participate in planning processes and promote inclusive best practices. Assist in the implementation of strategies for facilitating organizational and behavioral change, taking into account diverse needs and perspectives. Participate on organizational design and related development issues. Provides policy guidance and interpretation. Develop strong and trusted partnerships with managers and teams. Provide advice on all aspects that impact people, organizational dynamics, and engagement to support business needs and reach desired outcomes. Maintain an understanding of people, business needs, challenges and opportunities. Brings HR topics, concerns, and opportunities to managers for input and solutions. Challenge assumptions and positively influence others. Investigate basic employee relations issues and recommend appropriate resolution; work in consultation with the human resources director and/or Employee & Labor Relations to resolve complex issues. Coach and advise on organizational and employee relations issues. Assist in overseeing the performance appraisal process; ensure the appropriate process is followed. Provide performance management guidance to managers and staff. Assist hiring managers in attracting, engaging and retaining exceptional and diverse talent. Facilitate achievement of ITA goals for assigned units.. Administer area's salary-setting program to meet the organization and university's guidelines and facilitate employee retention, market and internal equity. Liaison with University HR on Pay Transparency Act implementation. Advise managers on assignment of employees to appropriate classification levels; conduct position and salary reviews; approve compensation actions. Consult with HR director or university compensation on complex issues. Identify, communicate, and consult with staff on training and career development opportunities. Design and conduct relevant HR training. Manage training communications and compliance. Oversee processes for workers' compensation, disability, leave, health and safety, and manage workplace accommodation requests in consultation with managers and HR director, as needed. Ensure compliance with university and legal requirements.To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge and demonstrated experience in at least two human resources areas, including: employee relations, employment and labor law, compensation, staffing and employment, training and development, performance coaching and management, and organizational development. Demonstrated understanding of group dynamics, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, and influencing skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy. Excellent consulting skills including understanding business and staff needs, offering solutions and following up to facilitate a successful outcome. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations or training. Able to adapt style in observance of others’ needs Demonstrated proficiency with business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and human resource information systems. Familiarity with collaboration tools, such as Zoom, Slack, Box, SmartSheet.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management, industrial psychology, or related field. Experience conducting position/classification reviews, salary analysis, and training. Experience in higher education. Strong service orientation and experience supporting employees, teams, and managers. HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP).
Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position which requires 2-3 days of on-site work per week. May require extended or weekend work hours during peak business cycles.
The expected pay range for this position is $112,503 to $125,000 per annum.
