Human Resources Director

The Director Human Resources is responsible for HR oversight for multiple manufacturing plants within the Indianapolis, IN facility. The Director will plan, direct, and coordinate Human Resources activities with strategic interaction with EVP Global Manufacturing, Quality and R&D.  This role will be the key partner in day-to-day employee engagement, leadership coaching, employee relations and recruiting.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Develop, interpret, and apply company policies, benefits, practices, procedures, programs and applicable laws and consistency among all manufacturing facilities. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.Directly manages the Talent Acquisition Department and the Suite 500 HR Coordinator.Indirectly manages the Plant HR Managers and DC HRBP.Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations.Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment and recommend needed changes.Responsible for selection, recruitment, and interviewing of plant employees and work jointly with supervisory and department heads in the hiring of employees.Interacts with Training Department analyzing training needs to design employee training and development including safety programs.Planning and organizing recognition programs to support HeartLife – employee, culture and community, company events, luncheons, picnics, recognition, etc.Serve as the liaison between management and employees by handling questions and assisting in the resolution of work-related issues.Provide effective guidance to line and department staff, relating to employee concerns, problems, and disciplinary action to comply with company policies.Manage temporary workforce relationship, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and advising on disciplinary procedures.All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or business administration/management Minimum of 8-years of HR experience including 5 years in a manufacturing environmentPHR preferred. Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and HRIS SystemsGood communication/interpersonal skills:  Interacting with all levels of the organization.Must be extremely organized, accurate and detail oriented.

Physical Demands: 

Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend. Must possess visual acuity to document company records. Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.Lifting to 40 pounds
